Performancing.com has a nice Firefox extension that provides an alternative interface for drafting and publishing posts. It may be especially helpful for those folks who regularly post to multiple blogs.
The interface is easy to look at though I haven’t explored all of the available features. It appears to save some kind of a version as a note, though I’m not sure where that is stored since it doesn’t show up under the drafted postings on the admin side of my blog. My experience with this post was that when I hit “publish” within the Firefox extension, it saved it to my blog as a draft. I actually had to log into my blog in order to get it published.
As I continue to use this tool, I’ll give occasional updates regarding its usefulness and any complaints that I have. Because the built-in Word Press editor was working fine for me, I may revert back to that at some point.
